You can access SAP Transaction screen through two different ways:

  1. Through SAP menu tree.
You can access various SAP transactions by browsing the SAP menu tree. You need to click this drop down button left to the menu description: (This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved).
The bottom level of each menu path in SAP menu tree (the one with icon This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved) is an “SAP transaction”. By double clicking this menu, you will go to the SAP transaction screen (depends on what menu you double click).
For example, by accessing the menu in the following image, you will go to “Create Purchase Order – Vendor/Supplying plant known” transaction.

  2. Through Command Field.
You could access SAP transaction screen by inputting the T-code into the command field (This image is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved).
T-Code (Transaction Code) is a code used to access an SAP transaction through Command field, so we don’t have to access it through menu tree. If you’ve already knew the t-code, it’s faster to access the transaction by t-code rather than menu tree.
The command field can be shown/hidden by clicking the button on the following image:This image is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved
Each SAP transaction has its own unique T-code. The T-code of each SAP transaction can be shown at SAP menu tree by:

For example: to access “Create Purchase Order – Vendor/Supplying plant known” transaction, you could input the t-code “ME21N” in the command field (This image is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved) and press enter.

If you’re on a certain SAP transaction screen, you could:

  • Back to previous screen, by clicking this icon: This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved
  • Exit the transaction and back to start page (SAP Easy Access screen), by clicking this icon: This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved, or This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved
  • Open New window (start page / “SAP Easy Access” screen), by clicking this button: This icon is © SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved
  • Open new transaction screen directly from current transaction screen without opening start page (“SAP Easy Access” screen). You could do this by input T-code into the command field with additional code before of the T-code, which is:
    • /n, such as /nME5A, or
    • /o, such as /oME5A

The difference between /n and /o:

    • If you use “/n” in the command field before the T-code on any SAP transaction screen and press enter, you will go to the T-code transaction screen and the current transaction screen will be closed (any unsaved data will be lost).
    • If you use “/o” in the command field before the T-code on any SAP transaction screen and press enter, you will go to the T-code transaction screen and the current transaction screen is still opened (just like you open new window/SAP Easy access screen and go to the new T-code transaction screen from there).

You can search SAP T-code available with “SEARCH_SAP_MENU” t-code.
